Backbends, arches and inversions
Neck and back pain in aerial and pole
If backbends have started to pinch, or your neck aches for two days after every session, start here.
What it usually is
Backs in this sport are usually being asked to bend a long way and to hold it. Most of what I see is a control problem rather than a damage problem, though the assessment exists to tell the difference.
What an assessment looks at
Where the movement is actually coming from, which is often not where you feel it.
What you can usually keep doing
Most of your training, with the range adjusted while the control catches up.
How long it usually takes
It is anything from a one-off drop in to a few weeks, depending on what you are working towards.
