Accessibility

What this site does, what it has been tested against, and what is still open.

Draft, not approved

This page has no signed-off copy yet. What follows names the obligations this practice actually has, so the page can be finished rather than invented. It must be reviewed before launch.

What is built in

  • Body text is set at 18px and never smaller, because a share of readers are in pain, on a phone, outdoors.
  • Text and background contrast is computed, not judged. Body text on the page ground measures 13.46:1, and the primary button measures 7.66:1.
  • Every interactive element shows a visible keyboard focus outline, on every background the site uses.
  • Every page starts with a skip link to the main content.
  • A light and a dark theme are each designed rather than one being an inversion of the other. The site follows whichever your device is set to.
  • Animation is removed entirely when your device asks for reduced motion.
  • No content depends on scrolling, hovering or JavaScript to become visible.
  • Every form reports a visible result, whether it succeeded or failed, and never reports a success that did not happen.

What has been tested

Rendering at 390px, 1440px and 2000px wide, in both themes, with no horizontal overflow at any of them. Contrast ratios computed against WCAG 2.1. A full assistive technology test with a screen reader has not been run, and a formal WCAG 2.2 AA audit is outstanding.

Known gaps

  • The logo is a raster image trimmed from a supplied JPEG. A vector lockup is outstanding.
  • The booking diary is a third-party embed and its accessibility is not ours to state until it is connected.
