Injury assessment
Working out what is actually going on, and what you can keep doing while we fix it.
What happens in the hour
- 01You tell me what hurts, when it started, and what you were working on at the time. Bring the move, not just the symptom.
- 02I watch you move. Where the apparatus is available, on the apparatus.
- 03Hands-on testing to narrow it down.
- 04I tell you what I think it is, in plain language, and what I am less sure about.
- 05We agree what you keep doing, what you change, and what you leave alone for now.
- 06You leave with a written plan you can actually follow.
What you leave with
An explanation you can repeat to your coach. A plan with the number of sets written on it. And an honest answer about training, which is usually not the one you are braced for.
Your programme is emailed to you, so nothing depends on a printer or a sheet that gets lost.
What I will not do
Tell you to rest and come back in six weeks. That is the advice that gets ignored, and an ignored plan is worse than a hard one, because nobody finds out it did not work.
